COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of semester, the pupil should able to:
1.Describe their profiles and preferences.
2.Write letters, short sentences, and extend them to short passages.
3.Recognize frequently used Kanji in the short passages.
4.Present their work by using appropriate materials such as visuals.
TEXTBOOKS AND MATERIALS:
1. Kodomo no Nihongo 1 (2002)
2. Handouts, picture books, video tapes, and etc.
EVALUATION: At the end of semester:
1. The pupil’s listening, speaking, reading, spelling, penmanship, and communication skills will be evaluated by the letter grade: A 90-100, B80-89, C 70-79, D Needs Attention, and F Failure. Also, his/her homework, attendance, punctuality, attention, effort, motivation, manners, and responsibility will be evaluated by the letter grade: E Excellent, S Satisfactory, U Unsatisfactory. See the Report Card if necessary.
2. A final exam.
3. Awards or honors: KAIKINSHO (perfect attendance award) will be given to any pupil who has had perfect attendance during the academic year, and SEIKINSHO (good attendance award) to any pupil who has had only 1 or 2 absences during the academic year. A DORYOKUSHO (effort award) may be given to any pupil whose effort throughout the academic year was laudable.
NOTES TO PARENTS:
Every week the pupil will receive homeworks. Children need parents’ support. Please assist your child in learning Japanese at home patiently.
PROCEDURES:
1. The teacher will follow the calendar below.
2. Between 10:00 – 10:15, pupil and teacher will engage in outdoor activities in the gym to develop kinetic, developmental skills of children. This activity will help lesson the stress and lower the anxiety of the children.
